Art therapies

Creative arts can play an important part in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Groups run by trained therapist use art, music, dance movement or drama to help you express yourself by creating something like a piece of music, a painting, a photograph or a play

Research shows that this therapy can support a recovery programme. These types of groups address mental health issues in a supportive, positive, non-clinical environment. This can encourage and enable empowerment and recovery through promoting a safe space for reflection, helping feelings to be expressed through art, without using words. For some women this can be as simple as using an adult colouring book and you can bring this into hospital with you.
